Title: Sheaves of modules on atomic sites and discrete representations of topological groups

Abstract

A fundamental theorem of Artin asserts that the category of discrete representations of a topological group is equivalent to the category of sheaves over a certain orbit category equipped with the atomic Grothendieck topology. In this talk, we characterize sheaves, sheafification, and sheaf cohomology on atomic sites in terms of notions in representation theory of categories, and classify irreducible discrete representations of certain important topological groups, including the infinite symmetric group and the infinite general linear group over a finite field. This is a joint work with Di, Liang and Xu.

报告人简介：李利平，湖南师范大学数学与统计学院教授、院长，湖南省芙蓉学者特聘教授，省政协委员。1999年本科毕业于清华大学化学系，2012年博士毕业于美国明尼苏达大学数学系。主要研究范畴的表示理论与表示稳定性理论，在一般线性群的同余群的同调群的稳定界限、范畴的局部诺特性、无限组合范畴的表示与同调性质研究等课题上取得一系列很有影响力的成果，在Adv. Math., Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., Selecta Math., J. Lond. Math. Soc.等期刊发表论文30余篇，主持多项国家及省部级基金项目。
